Trauma & PTSD

About

Welcome, my name is Afraa, and I am a Registered Psychologist. As a Black Canadian, & Muslim Registered Psychologist that was born in Sudan, I offer a safe space for BIPOC immigrant communities to heal without having to explain who they are. I believe individuals deserve the opportunity to live fulfilling and meaningful lives, and that life experience, both positive and challenging, play a significant role in shaping identity, functioning, and overall well-being. As a therapist, my goal is to support clients in increasing insight, developing effective coping strategies, and transitioning from a survival-focused mode of functioning toward greater resilience and thriving. In therapy, I provide a collaborative, and client-centered space to explore lived experiences and facilitate insight, growth, and meaningful change. My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I draw from a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including strengths-based therapy, Single Session/Open Access therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and EMDR. I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to address any questions or concerns about the therapeutic process and to help determine whether we are a good fit. Therapy is available in both English and Arabic.
